Diabetes supply availability during COVID-19 pandemic
We know this is a stressful and uncertain time for many in the diabetes community. Our daily routines have changed, many people have lost their jobs, and it’s more difficult to go to pharmacies, stores, and doctors’ offices for diabetes supplies and care.
While COVID-19 has not disrupted the manufacturing of diabetes medicines and supplies, it has affected some people’s experiences refilling their prescriptions. To better understand the real impact of COVID-19, we reached out to thousands of people in our US diabetes community earlier this week. Please see below for our key findings, along with a collection of quotes from our community members about how COVID-19 has affected their diabetes care.
We will continue to research the experiences of people with diabetes throughout this pandemic and would love to hear from you. If you are interested in participating, and in taking other surveys about living with diabetes, please click here.
If you or a loved one need help getting diabetes supplies, the Diabetes Disaster Response Coalition has a number of resources available on their website. They have also created a Diabetes Disaster Preparedness Plan, with information and guidelines to help you stay safe and healthy. You can also visit diaTribe to learn more about COVID-19 and what you can do to prepare.
